  • The eye muscles are the most active muscles in the human body.  It can blink over 10 million times a year.  It can also distinguish between 500 different shades of gray.
  • Most babies cry at birth but did you know that tears are NOT produced until one to three months after birth?
  • We’ve all heard that carrots are good for our eyesight but has anyone ever heard of ostrich meat being healthy for the eyes?  Ostrich meat contains zinc which is found in the retina (back part of your eye).  Zinc helps the functioning of enzymes responsible for our ocular health.  Patients with macular degeneration will especially benefit because there levels of zinc in the retina can be low.  However, almonds and avocados are also high in zinc so you don’t have to run out searching for ostrich meat!
